Gait Jonas Folger in 2017 MotoGP Can End Premature
Phillip Island - Yamaha Tech 3 rider, Jonas Folger, threatened not to finish MotoGP 2017 until the last series. The German rider was diagnosed with mononucleosis that took a long time to heal.

Folger has been feeling unwell since ahead of Japan's MotoGP at Motegi, last week. He experienced extreme fatigue and showed signs of being infected with the virus.

The MotoGP medical team then suggested Folger was absent on the Japanese MotoGP and soon returned to Germany to undergo a series of blood tests in Munich. She has completed a blood test at the hospital on Tuesday (17/10/2017).

Team Principal Yamaha Tech 3, Herve Poncharal, said Folger is suspected of having mononucleosis caused by Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV). Folger has previously been attacked by EBV in 2012.

"We just received a full report on Jonas medical results on Saturday (21/10/2017), almost certainly he was exposed to mononucleosis," Poncharal told Spanish Movistar television on Friday (20/10/2017).

Mononucleosis disease recovery time varies, the fastest is only two to four weeks. However, in some extreme cases, people with mononucleosis can feel very tired for months. That is, Folger may not recover completely in the last series in Valencia, 12 November 2017.

"Jonas just rested while watching television and could not practice, the problem is that the recovery time can take up to three months, and it's almost impossible for him to recover in time for the Valencia race," Poncharal said.

Folger replaced Kohta Nozane in the Japanese MotoGP. For the Australian MotoGP this weekend, Yamaha Tech 3 registers the hosts' racers Broc Parkes. However, Tech 3 had trouble finding a replacement for Folger Malaysia MotoGP (27-29 October 2017) because of the tight time.

"We are in a difficult situation because we know Jonas is sick in Japan, Nozane is an initiative from Yamaha, while Broc is chosen because it has been tested Yamaha YZR-M1.It is very difficult for us to have to use new riders in every race We even do not know who to use services in Malaysia, "Poncharal said.

Jonas Folger appeared promising on his debut season in MotoGP this year. He grabbed the podium for the first time finish second in the home race at Sachsenring, Germany, on July 2, 2017 and currently occupy the 10th position of the standings.
